In a surprise announcement today, idSoftware announced the production of Doom 4! Doom, being one of my personal favorite games of all time, has always given me the reason to camp outside a store door for game launch. Doom 3 for example, I waited inside the mall, outside EB Games, for three hours... and skipped school for the next three days just to play through it. This time around, I'll be able to reserve my copy due to friends at GameStop... but god damn, I hope this game is as good as the previous ones. And as far as the platform... well, I'm shooting that it'll most likely be on PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PS3... depending on when the game is released. And we all know idSoftware's development strategy for game releases... Read on for more details.
Well, we all know that over the past couple of months, Blizzard has been hiring for this "new top secret project". We also know that Blizzard confirmed working on an MMORPG that will succeed World of WarCraft. What we do not know for sure is if this "top secret project" and the next-gen MMO will be the same thing. Most are thinking that they will not be because Blizzard also hires specifically for this next-gen MMO... while others are wondering if the two will be one in the same. And also, Blizzard did make a promise to everyone that they will revisit the Diablo universe. But in the midst of all of this... of the rumors and speculations, we do know one thing for sure. Blizzard has the Diablo 3 name copyrighted and they acquired the domain name, diablo3.com, last week. The new website will link to the newly formed diablofans.com.
I spent most of the afternoon tending to and tidying up the website. I've been posting from time to time, speaking about updates that are "soon to come" and changes that are going to be happening. This news post is just to announce an update.
Not one day goes by that I don't think of some day to improve this website. I think about the kinds of content I want to try to avoid as well as the content that I want to lock my viewers in. But for some reason as of late, I've just been so busy that I've forgot all about inventing new ideas. But I want this to change... and I need this to change. I founded this website for a good purpose and I want to focus on keeping that. I know I'm going to need a staff and a lot more things, but I want this to work more than anything. I have a lot of ideas so expect a big change to come. GamerPride will come back alive.
This just in. Electronic Arts, the largest video game publisher, has just acquired BioWare and Pandemic Studios from VG Holdings Corp (the parent company).
Next Generation has word from Sony that they've shipped all of their 60GB PlayStation 3s. They don't have any more in the warehouses; retailers still have ample stocks, though. The 80GB PS3 is now the new standard.
Heise Online has an interesting article about Valve's Gabe Newell speaking out about Direct X 10, Windows Vista, and today's age of gaming. Let's take a look into it.
Today, I am happy to announce the first of many changes to come. All registered users of GamerPride.com will now have their own profile address! By default, your address is your GamerPride username after the website address. For example: GamerPride.com/SphericalCrusher links back to my profile. And for those that would love to customize their address, feel free to go do so! That feature is also available.
Again, this is the first of many changes to come to enhance the GamerPride user system. Enjoy!
As of yesterday sometime, VGChartz.com has confirmed the total number of sales for the Nintendo Wii to be 10.57 million units -- compared to Microsoft Xbox 360's 10.51 million units. So officially, the Nintendo Wii has complete dominance over the console market. Besides this, the Wii has sold more units monthly -- every month since its release back in November.
As of Sunday, 2K Games released the demo for Bioshock on Xbox Live. Last night, after four hours of downloading (1.35GB, but half of America was on top of it), my downloaded completed. And well, after playing through and beating the demo a few times... all I have to say is -- holy shit. I used to think that I had the lowest expectations ever, when it came to gaming. During my days of being the Editor-in-Chief of GamePlasma.com, my boss would always tell me to decrease certain game's scores and to bash certain aspects of a particular game. I hated it, but I respect him for telling me to do so. But recently, I felt that maybe my expectations have shifted from too low to too high. So I'm finally glad that I find a brand new game that just makes me stand up while playing it (excluding all Wii/Guitar Hero/DDR Games). But yeah, back to my odd gaming expectations...
Friday, I picked up Amanda after I got off of work and we went to Kennesaw to eat at TGI Fridays (which has the BEST potato skins ever). Afterwards, we stopped by Best Buy and picked up Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s. After getting back to my house, we opened the game, threw it in my PS2... only to find out that I now, suck ass at some Guitar Hero. Amanda on the other hand was just kicking God's ass at it. I mean every where God would go... there would be Amanda... standing with a shovel ready to smack him upside his big, fat head.
